Life Looks Like:

Tomatoes

I’m getting back into my art practice. I made the jump with a one-hour drawing of some cherry tomatoes. I rolled some dice to break my fixation on color and composition; they came up red, blue, black, and white, zoomed in. This is where I ended up!

First Loaf of GF Bread

So if you know me personally, you know that I have celiac disease and have to follow a strict gluten-free diet. I got tired of buying tiny bread that disintegrates and costs double what the average loaf of bread is. I gave bread making a try and was elated when it came out perfect on the first go! My husband said it tasted like normal bread. Winner, winner, chicken dinner!!!

Summer Beach Time

This year’s summer was extra hot, and that means beach time. My family and I enjoyed various beaches, but the last time we were there, we had the best sunset!

She is the Art

I love Lucie! She is often around when I am working on something art-related. Here I was laying out a canvas, and boom, she laid down smack in the middle and took a nap!

Past Work

Hi! I’m Morgan Calbert,

As an architectural designer and artist, I approach design with a strong focus on the end-user of a space and human interaction. My background as a User Experience Designer (UX) influences how I create spaces, ensuring they are not only functional but also meaningful, sustainable, and engaging.

I’m passionate about designing environments that foster community, well-being, and connection. Healthcare and community-driven projects especially resonate with me because of their potential to positively impact people’s lives. My academic work explores material innovation and storytelling, incorporating sustainable techniques like mass timber and rammed earth to craft thoughtful, lasting spaces.

Beyond architecture, I express my creativity through painting, drawing, and digital design, working under the pseudonym Ruggie, a name rooted in my family history. This artistic practice shapes my perspective and deepens my approach to spatial design. As I continue to grow in my career, I remain committed to creating people-first, impactful architecture that enhances the way we experience the built environment.
